Interview with Jean Lauand
Abstract
Jean Lauand is one of the most respected living Portuguese-speaking intellectuals, with a vast humanist culture that impresses his interlocutors on a daily basis. At the same time, he is a close and affable man and an initiator of great dialogues. He is a Senior Full Professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of São Paulo. He founded and is the current president of the CEMOrOc - Centre for East and West Medieval Studies at the same university. He is a researcher at the Institut Virtual Internacional de Traducció at the University of Alicante and a member of the Euro-Mediterranean Academy of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, based at the Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa (Naples). He is an editor, among others, of the Journal of Iberian and Latin American Literary and Cultural Studies - Studia Iberica et Americana, of the Indiana University-Purdue University. He is the author of the column «Philosophy and Language» of the Revista Língua Portuguesa, since its first issue. His work is published in about 30 countries and translated into 15 languages.
