Declaration of Ethical Principles and Malpractice Statement
e-Letras Com Vida — Revista de Estudos Globais: Humanidades, Ciências e Artes is determined to publish original works of value to the academic community and is oriented by a set of principles that aim to ensure the highest ethical standards and a superior scientific quality of this publication. These principles are expected to be observed by the Editorial Team (Editors, Editorial Board and Editorial Secretaries), by the Scientific Council, by the reviewers (referees), and by the authors, in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Good Practice for Journal Editors on Publication Ethics — COPE (https://publicationethics.org/).
DUTIES:
1. Editorial Team
- The Editorial Team is responsible, under the guidance of the Editors, for deciding on the publication of articles submitted to the journal, taking into account the legal requirements on plagiarism, defamation and violation of authors' rights.
- The acceptance of submitted articles must only consider their scientific and intellectual merit and their suitability for the journal, not taking into account the sexual orientation, nationality, ethnical origin, gender, religious belief, political orientation and social class of the authors.
- The Editorial Team cannot reveal or use in their own research any information about the submitted articles, before their publication, without the consent of the authors.
- The Editorial Team cannot reveal the identity of the authors of submitted articles to referees, and must ensure their anonymity (double-blind peer review). It must also ensure that the scientific arbitration process takes place in a fair and impartial manner and based on the principle of confidentiality.
- Peer-reviewers with conflicts of interest because of collaborative, competitive or other relationships or affiliations with any of the authors, businesses, or institutions associated with an article will no longer be considered by the Editorial Team.
- The Managing Editor is responsible for analyzing the adequacy and scientific and intellectual quality of the articles submitted to the thematic dossiers.
- It is specifically the responsibility of the Editors to ensure compliance with the principles set forth herein, monitor the entire process of scientific arbitration and, with the support of the Managing Editor and the Editorial Board, to establish a base of qualified referees, which must be periodically updated.
- It is also the responsibility of the Editors and the Managing Editor to invite the organizers of the Thematic Dossiers and clarify them about the ethical principles of the journal and about the peer review process.
- In case of conflicts, complaints or violation of the journal's ethical principles, the Editors must respond and take appropriate measures, and for this purpose, they may consult the Editorial Board.
2. Scientific Council
- The Scientific Council is made up of national and international experts in the field of Social and Human Sciences.
- It is up to the members of the Scientific Council to ensure the scientific arbitration of submitted articles.
- The Scientific Council members should contribute to the dissemination of e-Letras Com Vida among their contact networks.
3. Referees
- Invited by the Editors and/or the Managing Editor, it is up to the referees to analyze the submitted articles and prepare their opinions about them.
- If they do not feel qualified to analyze a certain article or are unable to do so, they must communicate it to the Editors and/or the Managing Editor. They must, on the other hand, refuse the analysis of articles in case of conflict of interest.
- During the review process, referees must scrupulously comply with the principle of confidentiality.
- Comments on articles must be objective and supported by arguments, and personal criticism must be avoided.
- The referees must alert the Editors and/or the Managing Editor of any suspicion of plagiarism.
- Referees may identify relevant bibliography that has not quoted cited by the authors.
- Articles should be evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific and intellectual merit and their suitability for the journal, not taking into account sexual orientation, nationality, ethnical origin, gender, religious belief, political orientation or social class of the authors.
4. Authors
- Authors must scrupulously follow the Editorial Rules of the Journal.
- Submitted articles must be original and rigorously documented, quotations, paraphrases or references to other authors, and/or works without proper accreditation will not be accepted.
- Plagiarism is a violation of ethical principles and is unacceptable.
- In case the authors submit an article that has already been published, they must inform the journal's Editorial Management about this situation, and it is up to them to decide whether or not to accept the article.
- Authors must take into account the comments of the referees, otherwise the article will be rejected. They may, however, in case of disagreement, present arguments to support their positions.
- In case of co-authorship, the main author must make sure that all authors are properly identified and that they have approved the final version of the document.
-When an author finds an inaccuracy in the text, he must notify the journal's Editors and collaborate with it in the correction of the work.
- If applicable, authors must disclose the source of financial support for their research.
5. Publisher
- The Publisher of e-Letras Com Vida — Revista de Estudos Globais: Humanidades, Ciências e Artes are committed to guarantee the necessary conditions for the making of the journal.
- It is also up to the Publisher to publicize the journal at their networks of contacts and on the platforms available to them.
