Abstract

This article examines Cláudia Lage's novel O corpo interminável in light of the events of repression and violence during the military dictatorship in Brazil (1964-1985). The narrator-protagonist's revisiting of this past and the events that led to his mother's disappearance is a painful process, difficult to apprehend, a fact that requires an investigation that uses several sources of information. It is, therefore, an archaeological novel, which recomposes the events of the past through research, witnesses, vestiges and interpretation, in order to get closer to the truth.
